Every child at Perrott Hill has the chance to perform at least once a year. Our focus is on building self-confidence, developing teamwork, creative skills and enjoying working towards a public performance.
Children will be able to investigate a range of media including film, set design, physical theatre and script writing and work with a variety of techniques including mime, mask, silent movies, slapstick, musicals and even soap opera.
Formal year group productions take place in Years 1 & 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8. Year 5 take part in a story telling competition and Year 7 in a public speaking competition. Recent performances in 2016 include Why the Whales Came by Michael Morpurgo and Beowulf. All children can put themselves forward for a slot in the sometimes rather anarchic Christmas Show!
We work very closely with the Art and Music departments and the children are actively encouraged to help with the technical side including making the props, costumes and set so that they have experience of every aspect of the performance.
Drama is one of the very popular afternoon activity sessions and drama and musical theatre lessons are also available throughout the school, at an additional cost.
