Science is taught from the Pre-Prep, where it is part of their topic work, through to Year 8 when pupils sit examinations to their senior schools.
The teaching is child-centred; children are encouraged to investigate and research through practical activities, as well as learning to be safe and confident in the laboratory environment.
Pupils in Years 3 to 5 are taught science in their class rooms and make the most of opportunities to use the extensive grounds for their investigations. By the time they reach Year 6, they are well grounded in many of the basic principles and continue their studies in the Science Laboratory, which contains the equipment and apparatus needed for the next stages of their learning. In Years 7 and 8, pupils study biology, chemistry and physics and concentrate on their preparations for Common Entrance and Scholarship examinations.
