A Wonderful Celebration of Art and Music

Saturday’s Community Art and Orchestral Morning was an outstanding success – a true celebration of creativity, collaboration and community spirit, and exactly what Perrott Hill does best.

Our orchestra had been working hard in the lead-up to the event, preparing a beautiful selection of music by Ravel. They were joined by visiting musicians from across the local area to form an impressive massed orchestra. The sound in the Theatre was quite extraordinary; rich, uplifting and at times thrillingly powerful, culminating in the spine-tingling crescendo of Boléro.

Meanwhile, our artists were busy at work responding to Ravel’s music, expertly led by Rob Pepper, Principal of the Art Academy London. Beginning with quick sketches, they progressed to wire frames and modroc, sculpting animals inspired by the rhythm, movement and colour of Ravel’s compositions.

Perrott Hill’s Art and Orchestral Morning continues to grow year on year, with many familiar faces returning alongside new musicians, artists and families joining us for the first time. We were particularly delighted to welcome back Old Perrott Hillians and friends of the school – a reminder of the strong and enduring creative community that surrounds Perrott Hill.

Events of this scale do not happen without vision and dedication. Our heartfelt thanks go to Director of Music Julian Shortman, Head of Art Tabs Palmer, Music Teacher Rachel Greenwood, and Rob Pepper for their leadership and inspiration.

We are also enormously grateful to every visiting musician and artist who gave their time and talent so generously to make the morning such a success.

It was a truly special occasion – one that celebrated not only music and art, but the joy of coming together as a community. We are already looking forward to next year.
