Choosing the next school is an important decision for parents to make. Robert Morse, the headmaster, encourages parents to come to and discuss senior schools and their child. Children leave Perrott Hill at the end of Year 8 (aged 13).
Parents should look at a number of senior schools, preferably on a personal tour, and meet the Head. If parents are considering a popular school they must register their child early as lists for certain years close quickly. Some schools now run pre-Common Entrance tests in Year 6, when the child is 11 years old. Other schools are slightly more relaxed and flexible. By the time a pupil starts Year 8, the parents should have made a decision about the senior school. A pupil takes Common Entrance exams to one school in June of Year 8.
Perrott Hillians have gained scholarships and Common Entrance to a number of independent schools. In the last five years a third of leavers gained scholarships to their senior school, and the school has a 100% pass rate in Common Entrance.
Pupils have gone to the following independent schools: Blundell's, Bruton School for Girls, Bryanston, Canford, Cheltenham Ladies College, Chilton Cantello, Clifton College, Dauntsey's, Downe House, Downside, Eton College, Godolphin, King's College Taunton, King's School Bruton, Loretto, Marlborough College, Millfield, Milton Abbey, Pangbourne, Prior Park, Queen's Taunton, Queenswood, Sherborne Boys, Sherborne Girls, St Antony's Leweston, St Mary's Ascot, St Paul's School, St Swithun's, Taunton School, Wells Cathedral School, Wellington and Winchester College.
Some pupils also go on to Colyton Grammar School.
