Every Child Matters
The school's ethos is based on everyday decency and good manners between individuals, pupils, staff and parents.
There is a simple set of rules designed to help the children make their way through every day, term and school year in a way that demonstrates their respect for others. Most important of all is the guiding principle that pupils should treat others as they would want to be treated themselves.
The school’s procedure for rewards and sanctions is heavily weighted towards encouraging good behaviour, genuine effort and kindness. It is important to look at the rounded needs of each individual. We aim for a very high level of inclusiveness at Perrott Hill, meaning all children are valued and included; from success in scholarships to senior schools to professional help for those in Learning Support.
We are especially determined to ensure that all children are included in extra-curricular activities such as drama productions, musical concerts and school matches. This principle of inclusiveness does not mean that excellence and high achievement are sacrificed: children need to audition for the Chamber Choir; everyone takes part in school plays but main parts are usually awarded on performance in audition; on the sports field we have A, B and sometime C squads for each age band.
An excellent staff team, both academic and pastoral, understand what makes every child tick. We develop close working relationships with the pupils and their families so that the educational experience can be a hugely happy and productive one.
